Hemyock Gymkhana 1980

A scene at a Hemyock Gymkhana in the early 1980s. Pictured is the Hon.Sec and Treasurer of the Gymkhana, Mrs Phyll Kallaway (The mounted young lady is a Miss Wyatt). Phyll is one of Hemyock’s leading lights when it comes to organising fund raising events. The Gymkhana, over the years, has raised money for a wide range of causes including Jimmy Savilles Stoke Mandeville Appeal Fund.

Coronation Celebrations 1953

Coronation Celebrations in the village in 1953. Dancing through the streets. Early leaders in the dance are Thelma Lowry and Mrs Pike, June Bradbury and Mary Salter, Barbara and Les Bowden, Mrs Netherway and Marjory Webber, Barbara Hole and Michael Pike, Mrs Reed followed by a large part of the population of Hemyock.

Hemyock Women’s Institute

Members of the Women’s Institute gathered in Hemyock Parish Hall. The occasion was the presentation of the clock on the wall behind the ladies to the parish. Davy & Gubb wedding 1992

A village wedding on 1st August 1992 using a slightly unusual vehicle. The reason for this novel form of transportation was that the groom, Nigel Davy, was a fireman. The bride, Caroline Gubb seems perfectly happy with the situation.
