Stanley Doble at ‘Doble’s’ Garage.

Stanley Doble in his garage first set up a garage at the top of the village selling bicycles, motorbikes and radios. The motor car trade became the most important part of the business. He retired over 20 years ago but the garage, taken over by David Graham, is still known as Doble’s.

Ronald Doble, a builder, who began his career as a carpenter and wheelwright. The family business is now continued by his son Brian.
