Laying the foundation stone for Hemyock Parish Hall in 1927. On the right is the Rector, Rev de Burgh Forbes. And on his right Mr. Jim Hart who built the hall. A time capsule was placed beside this stone at the time. The Rev.Forbes was remembered later the smaller of the rooms in the building was named The Forbes Lounge.

Margaret Mitchell caught on camera at work in Hemyock Post Office. The post office staff dress up and enter into the spirit of Carnivals and Christmas, which brings a smile to the customer’s faces.

Stanley Doble at ‘Doble’s’ Garage.

Stanley Doble in his garage first set up a garage at the top of the village selling bicycles, motorbikes and radios. The motor car trade became the most important part of the business. He retired over 20 years ago but the garage, taken over by David Graham, is still known as Doble’s.

Norman Lowman – 1973

Norman Lowman working in Doble’s garage in his days as a mechanic. Norman is now retired. One of his great loves in gardening and his floral decoration of his home in Station Road is a joy to behold. He is also an enthusiastic photographer.

Gerald Pring – 1972

Gerald Pring, carpenter, surrounded by the tools of his craft. For generations his family have had been carpenters. His son Martin continues the family tradition and also runs an undertaking firm, Culm Valley Funeral Services with his partner Lynne Isaac.
