Francis George DRAKE was the 2nd son of Francis Drake and Mary Jane Richards. Francis senior was a butcher and moved from Devon to Shepherds Bush to open a butchers shop and later back to Devon. My husband’s grandmother, Lillian, was sister to Francis George.
Lillian ‘s husband was William Edwin Lentell [later Grays Farm, and Lower Grays, Hemyock.] son of Matthew William Lentell of William Beer Farm Yarcombe. He was a driver in the Royal Engineers and we have his Victory Medal with a War Horse depicted on one side and the head of George V on the other. William was subjected to severe gasing and suffered the results for most of his life.[d. 1972]
